It's wise practice, I think, to listen carefully to the most extreme voices in the republican party; simply because they seem to win their arguments. After all, back in 2000, when some nutjobs at the Project for a New American Century were talking about invading Iraq, serious received opinion held that that was impossible - just too crazy to even contemplate.
