"It's why we fight"

Feh.

I'm on a number of winger mailing lists, simply because one should always keep tabs on what the other side is doing. Today, I got this missive from GOPUSA.com, the fine folks who brought you "Jeff Gannon". It being Memorial Day, I had looked forward to this one.
In this post 9-11 world, it is clear that America is a target. Depending on who you are, America may be the focus of your deepest hopes and admiration, or it may be the focus of your deepest hatred. Since [...] Bush came to office, we have seen both.

Hear that, liberals? Stop hating America!

This freedom which we cherish comes at a great price. Men and women have stepped forward and given their lives so that America can be free. We owe it to these fine souls to remember what they have done and to pass on to our children the value of the freedom that so many yearn for, and yet so many of us take for granted.

On this Memorial Day, please remember those who have gone before us, and those who wait for brave men and women in uniform to return. There is nothing more precious in this country than freedom. It’s why we fight, and it’s why we will continue to be both the envy and the target of the world.[Emphasis added]

"We". Hmmm, let's check; the author is Bobby Eberle, who besides running an, ahem, "news source", is also running for vice chairman of the Texas R party. Before that, he was Preznit of the "Texas Young Republican Federation. On the national level, Bobby served as Chairman of the State Chairmen's Association. Bobby also served as Vice Chairman at Large of the Young Republican National Federation."

Impressive, and there's more. But back to the "we"; specifically, the "we fight" part. Bobbykins lays out a case for grave global dangers - OK, fine. Problem is, his extensive résumé doesn't include any mention of, say, signing up with the armed forces.

It's not too late for that, however. Bobbykins could still put his ass where his mouth is and sign up. The enlistment age limit is 39. Bobbykins is 38. Remember, "there is nothing more precious in this country than freedom".

It's time to start paying that great price, Bobbykins. "Men and women have stepped forward and given their lives so America can be free."; how about you? Don't you "owe it to these fine souls" to put up or shut up?
