A faint smell of fear

Pictured: Congressional Republicans facing November

They say that the sight of the gallows wonderfully focuses the minds of the condemned.

For a real-life example of this truism, just turn your eyes to the marble halls of Congress, where a corrupt and radical majority faces its own extinction. So how do they react?

Well, first on the agenda, passed today, was a bill to make English the "national language" of the United States; notably, the bill changes no existing federal requirements for multilingual communication, as exist for example in the Voting Rights Act. In short, it's the legislative equivalent of paper bunting. Next up: a constitutional amendment to make sure them filthy homos don't get married and claim, ya know, those 14th amendment rights of equal justice under law.

Democrats, meanwhile, proposed a bill to cut U.S. reliance on oil imports by 40%.

And there's your difference between the two parties right there.
