You've seen this movie before

The U.S. will strike at Iran, either with (likely) or without (less likely) the use of nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, we learn that Iran is at least ten years away from a nuclear weapon - here and here and here.

Are we really stupid enough to let this happen again?

The cynic in me thinks that this is just another repug plot to change the subject before the November elections. Problem is, they've done this before, prior to the 2002 elections; and though true believers on the other side continue to assert a quasi-papal infallibility for their godhead, they are a small minority.

The simple fact is that the Bush junta has no credibility left; nor is it likely that this trend will reverse anytime soon, given that deception and disinformation is fundamental to the operation of this government. However, you can't take a nation to war - let alone into a nuclear war in the linchpin of the world economy - without credibility.

When this war happens, the consequences will be horrific. Oddly enough, I've read that Karl Rove is supposedly firmly against such a war, which confirms my suspicion that the political consequences could be devastating for repugs. We simply don't trust them anymore when they claim it's time to be scared.
