Britney Spears' "Monument to pro-life"

As promised, here they are: the photos - including the Sharon Stone shot, as it were - of that icky piece of artwork I discussed recently.

I have to say, having now seen the thing, the photos do not do justice to the crass exploitativeness of it.

I've been using the term 'forced pregnancy' now for a while to clarify the 'pro-life' and 'pro-choice' divide. This because, simply, these terms are inaccurate; the anti-abortion folks are not, to me, 'pro-life' in any meaningful way when the subject is anything other than regulating and enforcing pregnancy. 'Pro-choice', meanwhile, is too pale to describe what's at stake here; Pizza Hut gives you 'choices' - but the right to determine when and how often you bear a child is more consequential than the question of two or three toppings, in my mind.

And in terms of treating women as objects, this sculpture really says all that needs to be said about forced pregnancy.
