Through a glass, darkly

There is stupidity, and then there is wingnut stupidity. The former relates to the latter in much the same way as does a rubber dinghy to the RMS Titanic. Note that Titanic has been rotting on the floor of the lightless ocean for almost a century, which is eerily similar to the circumstances that must have produced the ideas these people hold.

Consider the idle conceit some of these people - and I use the term loosely and with no intended disrespect to the species - entertain regarding the use of the term 'communist' or, more likely, 'commie'.

No, 'communism' is not shorthand for Howard Dean's newest press release, for the existence of labor unions, the income tax, or anything else you may be told by your various medications or Faux "News" that you must dislike. Rather, the term
"Communism refers to a conjectured future classless, stateless social organization based upon common ownership of the means of production, and can be classified as a branch of the broader socialist movement. Communism also refers to a variety of political movements which claim the establishment of such a social organization as their ultimate goal. Early forms of human social organization have been described as "primitive communism." However, communism as a political goal generally denotes a conjectured future form of social organization which has never been implemented."
Nor should you expect equanimity when you call Roosevelt Democrats - like me - a 'commie'. Our reaction tends to fall somewhere between pity - for the person onto the vast maw of whose stupidity a brief fleeting light has just been thrown - and rage.

That is, if we deign to notice you at all. And most of the time, speaking strictly for myself, I'd say that your various utterances simply are not worth the time and effort. I adhere to the belief that ignorance is contagious, and I don't want to catch what you have.
